Turn on the transmitter, and go to the endpoint adjustment on the throttle channel. Bring both the high and low side endpoints down to 50% (25% if using Spektrum). Have a linear throttle curve for normal mode (0,25,50,75,100), and put your throttle stick in the full position. Plug in the battery pack (don't worry the motor won't start), and then bring the high side endpoint back out towards 100% (possible past) until you hear a single tone. Then bring the throttle stick to the bottom position and increase the endpoint until you hear the ESC arm. Unplug the battery and then plug back in to make sure everything is functioning properly. You should be good to go after that.

Hope this helps, Mike
